With winter often comes greater time indoors which can often mean increased screen time and the outdoor adventure company is encouraging families this half term to get active in the great outdoors. The monkeys will be able to throw off their school bags and have a fun experience, returning home with mud under their finger nails and woodchip in their underpants, the ultimate sign of a good adventure. What’s more, it also makes for a fun opportunity to challenge mum and dad while flying through the trees.
A half term trip to the trees offers the chance to get back to nature, fly down zip wires, leap off Tarzan swings and navigate obstacles, rope crossings and Tibetan bridges, high above the forest floor.
There are three unique Go Ape courses located across Scotland, each featuring a Tree Top Adventure, set amidst some of the country’s most breath-taking scenery.
• Go Ape Aberfoyle in Stirlingshire, located in Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, is zip wire heaven and home to two of Britain’s longest zip wires, each stretching over 400m long, flying people 150 feet above the ground and over a 90 foot waterfall. The dual site, which launched last year, has doubled both the size and level of adventure with the addition of two giant Tarzan swings, two high speed cross-valley zip lines and a challenging skateboard zip wire.
• Go Ape Peebles is built on the hillside within the striking Glentress Forest and takes advantage of the valley for some jaw-dropping exposure and challenges the laws of gravity with the highest zip wire in the country, located above a magnificent reservoir.
• Go Ape Crathes Castle in Aberdeenshire is located in the landmark grounds of the castle. With turrets and towers, winding staircases and ancient sculpted yew trees; historic Crathes Castle’s 595 acre estate offers a fantastic day out.
Go Ape prices range from £33 for a gorilla (aged 16 and over) to £25 for a baboon (aged 10 to 15).
