Red Nose Day is back with a bang for 2019 as stars across Scotland come together to support Comic Relief and raise vital funds for the big night, which will be broadcast live this Friday 15th March, from 7pm on BBC One. Scottish stars will feature in sketches from One Red Nose Day and a Wedding, Mamma Mia, and Bodyguard, ensuring a night of non-stop entertainment for viewers.

Much anticipated and making a truly welcome return to our screens, East Kilbride’s own John Hannah appears in the One Red Nose Day and a Wedding sketch, one of the TV highlights of the year. Joining Hugh Grant, Andie McDowell, Rowan Atkinson, John Hannah reprises his much-loved role as Matthew.

Man-of-the-moment and currently sitting top of the Official UK charts with his heart-breaking tune ‘Someone You Loved’, Lewis Capaldi brought his characteristically dry humour to his own Red Nose Day video, as he reviewed some classic ‘Dad jokes’ for Comic Relief. Only last week the young Bathgate-born singer sold out consecutive dates at Edinburgh Summer Sessions, and he is well on his way to becoming one of Scotland’s biggest exports. Lewis joined in with the Red Nose Day spirit, donning a red nose and glasses to entertain with his jokes.

After making an appearance at this week’s Danceathon, offering support, encouragement and words of wisdom to Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman as they took on a mammoth 24-hour dancing challenge raising more than £1 million with donations still coming in, Susan Calman will also appear in this year’s Mamma Mia Here We Go Yet Again sketch. Joining Jennifer Saunders ten years after the original sketch, Susan takes up the role of Julie Walters' Rosie, alongside well-known faces such as Alan Carr, Miranda Hart, Sue Perkins and more. The comedian and former Strictly contestant dropped in to BBC Radio 2 to cheer on Tess and Claudia as well as show tips from her time dancing with Kevin Clifton.

St John’s RC High School in Dundee also joined in with national Danceathon yesterday, Tuesday 11th March, at the same time as Claudia and Tess’ Radio 2 Challenge for Red Nose Day 2019,and invited their feeder Primary schools including St.Clements, St.Mary’s, St. Ninian’s, Our Lady’s and St.Peter & Paul’s. More than 150 children took part in Irish dancing, street dancing, Zumba, Ceroc and Scottish Country Dancing with a host of different specialist dance instructors brought in especially for the day. The cast of their school production ‘Hairspray’ also performed a spectacular rendition of ‘Welcome to the 60s’. St John’s will also be hosting bake sales and raffles this week all to raise money for Comic Relief and support this year’s Danceathon.

Confirmed as a host on the night, David Tennant will present alongside Zoe Ball and spoke of his previous experiences fundraising for Comic Relief which included busking on the streets of Glasgow and even starring in a Proclaimers tribute act at his school!

After an incredible homecoming show at The SSE Hydro last month, synth-pop maestros CHVRCHES have also given their support this Red Nose Day, showing off their very own noses in a selfie. Dominating the Scottish music scene with an upcoming headline set at Edinburgh Summer Sessions, CHVRCHES are one of the most in-demand bands in the UK, and their support for the charity reminds fans how much Comic Relief does for projects at home, and abroad.

Star of BBC One’s record-breaking thriller Bodyguard, Paisley’s very own Richard Madden returns for a special Red Nose Day sketch as David Budd takes on a new assignment. The Golden Globe winner will be joined by some extra special guests in the sketch including Gina McKee and Sanjeev Bhaskar.

Dundonian singer-songwriter Kyle Falconer has also shown his support for the charity, posting an image of Kyle with his very own red nose on his personal Instagram before he heads back off on a UK wide tour after a phenomenal show in Glasgow last week.

Comic Relief is relying on the generous support of the people of Scotland who raised and donated more than £1.3m for the last Red Nose Day in 2017. Whether it's dancing, baking, telling jokes or wearing Red Noses, the people of Scotland will come together with millions of others across the country as they raise vital cash to help lives.

Thanks to money raised through Red Nose Day, Comic Relief supports projects and organisations in Scotland, the rest of the UK and abroad.

Since last Red Nose Day money raised has funded 128 projects and organisations right here in Scotland like the Broomhouse Centre in Edinburgh which works in disadvantaged areas of the city matching older people living in social isolation with local volunteers to take part in community activities which create new friendships and improve their wellbeing.

The money raised from the Red Nose Day campaign and merchandise sales help Comic Relief to continue funding and investing in amazing organisations across the UK and abroad.
