Visitors can look forward to a unique snake handling session at 12pm, where they can get up close and personal with some of Amazonia’s friendly snakes.
At 4:30pm participants can join the Amazonia Keepers for the snake feed and tour but be warned – it’s not for the faint of heart! The feed will begin at the enclosure of Eric the Burmese Python, lasting around 20 minutes in total.
Eric is Amazonia’s slippery resident and spent most of his life in Germany as mascot to the RAF’s 14th Squadron. Stretching around 14 feet and weighing a whopping 42 kilos, Eric requested permission to retire in 2011 and relocated to Longleat in Wiltshire before making his way to Lossiemouth and finally to M & D’s, Scotland’s Theme Park in Strathclyde Country Park.
Participants can also take part in a free badge making activity from 11am-12pm and 2pm-3pm, and there will be an opportunity of winning an animal adoption pack as well as taking part in a zoo trail, featuring the more than 70 different species of animals.
Tickets can be purchased at scotlandsthemepark.com. Children must be accompanied by at least one paying adult however kids under 3 years go free.
Please note snakes are carnivores and they eat a variety of meats. The snake feed sessions are widely popular but may be distressing to some.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
