Our speaker Liz Macintyre Allan was born and brought up on the southside of Glasgow. She attended Scotland Street Primary School and later Glasgow University where she was awarded an Honours Degree in History and Comparative Religion.
Liz raised her family and then decided to re-enter academic life as a mature student.
After a happy career in education, Liz decided to follow a new path as a storyteller.
When Liz's mother died she found a collection of over 300 letters written by her father during WW2.
Liz decided to transcribe the letters for her own family and then the words from Alex took an unexpected twist.
The book of his letters, Love Letters from a Desert Rat, became a World War 2 bestseller.
Liz shares the family story.
