We will begin with a walk in the woodlands of Strathclyde Country Park collecting found nature and observing and documenting the landscape through different creative techniques using drawing, personal mobiles, photography, and frottage rubbing techniques.
Our destination will be the future Artist Bothy site at south shore of the loch, where we will gather our found objects, sketches, and observations to create a group art map inspired by journey's patterns and shapes that will help inform the graphic design of a bright and bold new Artist Bothy.
We will explore in this art workshop:
* How to explore for creative inspiration from your local greenspaces.
* Please bring with your own discovered plants and things of interest from your nature walks too.
* Art Mapping in Nature is about documenting your creative process as you explore outdoors.
* All ages are welcome, all children must be accompanied by a parent or carer.
* This workshop is free, and all art tools & materials will be supplied.
* Portable outdoor seating will be provided. All ages and abilities welcome.
Meet at the coloured pavilion next to the Foreshore car park at Strathclyde Country Park at the start time of the session: https://goo.gl/maps/LEwejHdUZcmGKsq26
About the Artist in Resident for North Lanarkshire Country Parks
During the summer and autumn, two artists will use the nature and biodiversity in North Lanarkshire’s Country Parks to inspire schools, community groups and visitors to create their own artwork. The two artists in residence are Gill White and Kathryn Hanna.
Gill White is a multidisciplinary artist working in art, design, and film. Her public art and participatory art projects actively encourage spending time in nature, exploring the great outdoors by celebrating what makes a place unique. Her work blends visual art, design, film, and storytelling. Many of her projects are fun, playful experiences designed to spark people’s imagination and to actively encourage a culture of creative collaboration.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
