A guided tour of Lanark Cemetery and its notable gravestones.
Explore the cemetery with guide Eleanor McLean and find out about the famous, and infamous, buried there.
We will hear stories about covenantors and their persecutors; the father of British midwifery; a heroic soldier from the Napoleonic Wars; the ‘hanging judge’; the founder of Lanark’s first school; a combatant in the American Civil War; and Stanley’s guide and interpreter in his quest to find Livingstone.
Itinerary: 5pm to approximately 7pm
Meet at Murray Chapel, Lanark Cemetery, off St. Kentigern’s Roundabout.
Walking tour of the cemetery stopping beside the graves of notable people.
