Whilst they await completion of their flagship state-of-the-art carbon-negative distillery and the first distillation of their own spirit in 2024, they are sourcing and laying down Malt Whisky from all across Scotland. They select the casks and carefully curate them, only bottling when ready, at a minimum of 46% ABV, natural colour and not chill-filtered.
Join us in-store to sample three of Ardgowan's limited edition bottlings from the Clydebuilt collection. There's a choice of two expertly crafted blended malts - the Shipwright and the Sailmaker - and a unique Single Grain, the Riveter, on offer, each carefully selected by Master Whisky Maker, Max McFarlane.
The Shipwright: Shipwright is a blend of four distinctive single malt whiskies from Highland and Speyside distilleries, matured in first-fill Oloroso Sherry casks.
“Take a dram of Shipwright, breathe in the waves of marzipan, Ceylon tea, dried spices and hints of tobacco - roll the dram to the front of mouth and on the tip of the tongue you’ll find orange peel, rich dark notes of black cherries, and treacle. Finally, Shipwright finishes gently, dry at first, then gliding into lingering spicy notes.” - Max McFarlane
The Sailmaker: Sailmaker is a blend of six distinctive single malt whiskies from Highland, Speyside and Lowland distilleries, matured in first-fill Oloroso Sherry casks.
“I think Sailmaker is the Clydebuilt Collection’s best whisky yet. It is our first time incorporating Lowland whisky alongside Speyside and Highland single malts, which adds significant depth and richness to the flavour profile.” - Max McFarlane
The Riveter: Riveter signals a move away from previous blended expressions, becoming the first single-grain whisky in the range.
“Grain whiskies are often overshadowed by Single Malts, however great spirit married with quality wood never fails to deliver. This parcel of casks specially selected for Clydebuilt Riveter has allowed me to create a whisky which really showcases the depth of flavour that grain whisky can produce.” - Max McFarlane
