Kate and Jonny started North Uist Distillery in 2019, a result of their long held dream to build a new distillery on their island home. Their aim is to honour the tradition of their families' history working with the land and sea on North Uist whilst also creating something new and exciting
"When we took ownership of our brand new distillery building at Nunton Steadings on Benbecula, we were very aware of what an important part it had played in the lives of many islanders throughout the years and we are very proud to be the new custodians and hopefully continue the rich tradition of island stories by adding some of our own as the years progress." - Kate
Downpour Gin was their first release and is inspired by their beautiful island surroundings. The gin is packed with botanicals, citrus, spices and a punch of wild Hebridean heather - big, bold flavours that you can taste in every drop.
Within a month of its release, Downpour Original had won two prestigious awards: a Double Gold for the Women's Wine and Spirits Awards and a Silver at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Since then, it's gone on to take home countless more awards, as have the other expressions in the Downpour range.
Join Jin to discover the range of Downpour gins and learn more about this fantastic distillery.
