These unique events, which will be held on Tuesday October 29th and Thursday November 28th at the East Kilbride gallery, will celebrate both fine art and the rich malt whisky heritage of Scotland, with a curated whisky experience hosted by renowned whisky expert Jim Irvine.
Building on the completion of this body of work by Scottish colourist Daniel Campbell, which highlights Islay's stunning landscapes and iconic distilleries, this event will offer guests an immersive experience, pairing exceptional artwork with two whisky tastings that bring the spirit of Islay to life.
Robert Clark, Owner and Manager of The Picture Framing Gallery, said: “We are delighted to invite the local community to this one-of-a-kind event, where the appreciation of Scotland’s rich whisky tradition meets the vibrant artistry of our gallery. This tasting will complement the work we've been doing, showcasing the cultural tapestry of Islay through both sight and taste.”
The event will feature two whisky tasting sessions, expertly led by Jim Irvine, where guests will have the chance to savour 9 of Islay’s finest whiskies. The selection includes renowned distilleries such as Ardbeg, Ardnahoe, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Bunnahabhain, Caol Ila, Kilchoman, Lagavulin, and Laphroaig. These tastings will offer an extraordinary opportunity for whisky lovers to experience the rich flavours of Islay’s classic malt whisky.
In addition, guests will enjoy a private showing of 10 original oil paintings by Scottish fine artist Daniel Campbell (GSA). These stunning works capture the breathtaking beauty of Islay’s romantic landscapes and its iconic distilleries, providing a visual journey through the island’s whisky culture. These paintings, created after a special photoshoot on Islay, were also showcased at the prestigious Feis Ile 2024 whisky festival, making this event a rare chance to view them in person.
As guests arrive, they will be welcomed with whisky cocktails crafted by Grant Beattie, also known as "The Cocktail Guy." Grant's expertly mixed cocktails will set the tone for the evening, offering a fresh and creative take on whisky-based drinks.
Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a range of fine art from the gallery, including prints, limited edition prints, canvas reproductions, and unique handcrafted whisky cask frames, all inspired by the beauty and craftsmanship of Islay’s malt whisky producing heritage.
As a trusted independent establishment within the community, The Picture Framing Gallery has been providing exceptional framing solutions for cherished memories, artwork, sports memorabilia, and iconic signed celebrity and artist photographs for over a decade.
