Founded 23rd November 1741, Leadhills Miners Library is the oldest subscription library in the British Isles, perched high in the Southern Uplands of Scotland!

The library was founded in 1741 and is the oldest subscription library in Europe and the world's first library set up for the working man. It is now a museum of literature and village life.
Open from the first weekend of May to the last weekend of September, Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm to 5pm.
