Scottish schoolkids discover the rainforest with interactive Amazonia lessons
More than 5,000 viewers have joined the team at Amazonia, Scotland's only indoor tropical rainforest, over the past few weeks to enjoy the attraction's interactive online series of lessons!

Each weekly lesson takes an in depth look at tropical parts of the world and the colourful critters that inhabit them, designed for children studying at home during the ongoing lockdown restrictions.
Four out of the eight lessons hosted by the expert team at Amazonia have been uploaded to the Amazonia web page and social channels and each features interactive tasks for children to complete.
Each lesson focuses on a specific part of the rainforest, such as the forest floor, the canopy layer and even which creatures can be found at night. So far in the series, we have been introduced to just a handful of the animals that call Amazonia home such as the red footed tortoise and common marmoset.
Activity worksheets are available to download, so children and parents watching the video series are able to complete tasks associated with each lesson.
Amanda Gott, manager of Amazonia, said: “We’re thrilled to see so many people getting involved in our interactive lesson series and paying our animals a visit to learn more about their lives in the rainforest.
“We really wanted to create something fun and interactive similar to the actual experience at Amazonia while we are still closed. Hopefully these lessons help to add something extra to the online learning experience. It also means that for anyone who hasn’t visited Amazonia before, they can see and learn more about some of the fantastic creatures that we care for here.”
The tropical house, located at Scotland’s Theme Park, is home to more than 50 species of animals, including marmosets, tamarins, fruit bats, kinkajous, snakes, frogs, fish and many invertebrates.
